Students will improve their French reading and comprehending skills by reading texts in original language. Students will learn intermediate grammars while checking beginner grammars. At the same time, students will increase essential vocabularies and expressions to allow them to read literature works. Combined, students will learn a summary of 18th-century French history of literature.
Students will read Emile (Jean-Jacques Rousseau) in original language. The class will be in seminar format. Students will be selected during the class to answer questions. Students will not be pre-selected for tasks. At the minimum, everyone must read and think about the French texts before class.

18世紀のテクストを読みながらフランス語読解力の向上を目指す。初級文法の確認と中級文法の学習を同時に行いながら、文学作品を読む上で必要な語彙・表現を増やしていく。あわせて18世紀フランス文学史の概略を理解する。

ルソー『エミール』を原文で読んでいく。演習の授業なので、受講者にあてて答えてもらう形で進めていくが、担当者をあらかじめ決めておくことはしない。全員がテクストのフランス語を事前に読み、考えてくることが、最低限の前提となる。
受講者多数の場合は、適宜進め方を変更する予定である。
