In this course, we will choice and read relatively easy essays to comprehend from the texts of Roland Barthes, as a literary professor and a semiotician. By reading these works, students will make an effort to understand various syntaxes through careful reading and to pronounce French properly through reading aloud.
First we will deal with a « L'Empire des Signes », as a semiotic reflection on the Japanese culture, which we will strive to comprehend thoroughly. Additionally, the teacher in charge will lecture on the historical transitions of the semiotics after Saussure.

本講義では「記号論」の文学者ロラン・バルトのエッセーのなかから、比較的容易に読める文体のテキストを選んで読む。そのようなテキストの読解を通して、受講生は様々な構文を理解できるよう精読し、また音読しながら正確な発音を身に着けることを目指す。

まずバルトの『記号の国』を扱い、その読解をしていく。これはバルトが日本文化に関して、記号論的な考察を試みたエッセーである。加えて担当講師は、ソシュール以降の記号論の展開を（補助資料を用いて）抄説する。
