Students will read, think, and understand texts describing film culture in French and acquire ability to translate them into Japanese. Students will read relevant literatures to deepen their knowledge of image culture.
Close reading of Georges Didi-Huberman's theory of the image. Didi-Huberman is a globally renowned thinker on the theory of the image, discussing painting, film, photography, and all forms of the image with boundless scope. Reading his profound and expansive writings, we will consider the nature of the image while contemplating how to translate these texts into Japanese. In class, students will be randomly selected to read aloud and present their translations. During this time, questions about grammatical points will be asked and answered. Subsequently, the instructor will provide commentary while translating, including explanations of spelling and grammar. Please note: the use of computers, tablets, or smartphones during class is prohibited. Please prepare beforehand using a dictionary.

映像文化をめぐるテクストをフランス語で講読して、考え、理解し、日本語に翻訳する能力を習得する。関連する文献を講読して、映像文化に関する知識を深める。
Students will read, think, and understand texts describing film culture in French and acquire ability to translate them into Japanese. Students will read relevant literatures to deepen their knowledge of image culture.
ジョルジュ・ディディ＝ユベルマン(Georges Didi-Huberman)の映像論を精読する。ディディ=ユベルマンは、世界的に知られるイメージ論の思想家であり、絵画、映画、写真･･･といったイメージ全般について、縦横無尽に論じている。深みと広がりを備えた彼の文章を読み、イメージについて考えながら、その文章をいかにして日本語に翻訳するのかを考える。教室では、ランダムに指名して、音読した上で訳文を発表していただく。その際に、文法事項についての質問をしてお答えいただく。その後で、担当教員が翻訳しながら解説を行う。そのさい、綴りの読み方や文法についての解説も行う。なお、授業中のパソコン、タブレット、スマートフォンの使用を禁止する。授業前に辞書を使って予習をしてください。
