While learning about modern image philosophy, you will acquire the ability to think about images from multiple angles. Understand the various concepts used to discuss images and acquire the ability to utilize them on your own.
Georges Didi-Hubelmann is one of France's leading image theorists today. He analyzes a myriad of images from ancient times to modern times, crossing diverse disciplines. In this class, we will examine the content and possibilities of his image anthropology. In that regard, we also consider the theories of Georges Bataille, Aby Warburg, Walter Benjamin, Michael Fried, Rosalind Klaus, Eve-Alan Bois, Claude Lanzmann, and so on.

現代のイメージ哲学について学びながら、イメージについて多角的に考える力を獲得する。イメージについて論じるための諸概念を理解して、自分でそれらを活用する力を獲得する。

ジョルジュ・ディディ＝ユベルマンは、現在のフランスを代表する哲学者である。彼は、多様な学問領域を横断しながら、古代から現代にいたる無数のイメージを分析している。この授業では、彼のイメージ論の内容と可能性を検討する。それと関連して、ジョルジュ・バタイユ、ヴァルター・ベンヤミン、アビ・ヴァールブルク、マイケル・フリード、ロザリンド・クラウス、イヴ＝アラン・ボワ、クロード・ランズマン、等々といった人々のイメージ論についても検討する。
