We will carefully read famous scenes from ``The Tale of Genji,'' which was written in the middle of the Heian period. In order to understand classical literary works whose language, culture, customs, and values are different from those of modern times, it is first necessary to read commentaries. Deepen your understanding of The Tale of Genji by comparing multiple annotations.
In the first class, the order of presentations will be determined, and in the second and third classes, students will be given instructions on how to create a resume and how to give a presentation. Presenters will be asked to compile their resumes and present their interpretations, annotations, modern translations, etc. At that time, there will be time for questions and answers.

『源氏物語』全体のあらすじについて、各自、頭に入れておくこと。
授業で取り上げる巻の概略や人物関係についても、各自、把握しておくこと。
文法の知識が必要なので、高校時代に習った古典文法を復習しておくこと。
古語については古語辞典を引いて正確な意味を調べること。
自分の分担箇所について調べてレジュメを作るのはもちろんのこと、他の学生の発表する箇所についても予習・復習をすること。
毎週、他の学生のレジュメを見てのコメントを提出すること。
各回の予習・復習にはそれぞれ２時間程度を要する。

平安時代中期に成立した『源氏物語』の名場面を取り上げて精読する。言葉も文化も習慣も価値観も現代とは異なる古典文学作品を理解するには、まず注釈書を読むことが必要となる。複数の注釈書を比べながら、『源氏物語』への理解を深める。

初回の授業で発表の順番を決め、第２回、３回の授業でレジュメの作り方や発表のやり方などを説明する。発表者には、語釈、注釈、現代語訳などをレジュメにまとめて発表してもらう。その際、質疑応答の時間を設ける。
