The purpose of this class is to acquire the necessary ideas as a basis for researching modern and contemporary Japanese literature and for considering literary works as objects of study and consideration.
Learn how to find materials from previous studies and the time when the work was published, and how to read such literary materials.
This course also aims to develop the ability to write logically and to give oral presentations.
In this class, students will learn basic research and survey methods for reading novels. Using these methods, students will analyze novels and present the results of their analysis.
Specifically, students will learn the following research methods:
(1) Collecting variant editions (of a book)
(2) Comparison of variant editions (of a book)
(3) Survey of contemporary reviews
(4) Survey of previous studies
In this class, we will analyze the following novels:
Ryunosuke Akutagawa’s “Butoukai [A Ball]”
Riichi Yokomitsu’s “Hae [A Fly]”
Masuji Ibuse’s “Sanshouo [Salamander]”

日本近現代文学を研究するための基礎となる考え方や方法を身につける。
研究するために必要な文献を調査する方法や、文献の読み方を身につける。
論理的な文章を書く力や、口頭発表をする力を養うことも目的とする。

この演習では、文学作品を読むための基本的な研究方法・調査方法を学ぶ。またそれらの方法を用いて分析的な読みを実践し、発表する。
具体的には、諸本の蒐集・諸異本の校合、同時代評・先行研究の調査などの基本的な研究方法・調査方法を、実践を通じて学ぶ。
