・In this course, students will consider the way people lived in ancient times through Man'yoshu, and will also review our present-day lives from the words of the Manyoshu.
・The course will also provide students with the basics of the study of ancient literature, such as the textual variants, the reading of kanji, and word annotations.
Volume 10 of the Man'yoshu, is a collection of poems by an unknown author, classified into the four seasons(spring, summer, autumn, and winter) . The fact that the author is unknown means that the main focus is on the expression and language of the poem itself, without regard to the author's background or origins. Another feature of this collection is that it contains many Tanabata(Festival of the Weaver) poems based on the myth of Tanabata from the Hitomaro anthology and other ancient anthologies, as well as from the Chinese classics.
In this seminar, we will peruse the 10th volume of the Man'yoshu to understand the characteristics of seasonal poems, the view of nature and love at that time, and other aspects of ancient times through the words of these poems.

・『万葉集』の歌ことばから、古代の人々の在り方を考える。さらにそこから現代に生きる私達の姿を見直す。
・本文校異・訓釈・語釈など、上代文学研究の基礎を習得する。

『万葉集』巻10は、春夏秋冬の四季に分類され、さらに雑歌と相聞の部立から成る、作者未詳の歌を収める巻である。作者未詳ということは、逆にいえば作者の背景・出自などにとらわれず、歌の表現・ことば自体を詠みとくことが主眼になるとも言える。また人麻呂歌集・古歌集からの歌や、漢籍における七夕神話に基づく七夕歌を多く収載するのも特徴の一つである。
本演習では巻10をひもとくことで、『万葉集』における季節歌の特徴、当時の自然観、恋愛観など、古代の諸相を、歌のことばからよみ解いていく。
