・In this course, students will consider the way people lived in ancient times through Man'yoshu, and will also review our present-day lives from the words of the Manyoshu.
・The course will also provide students with the basics of the study of ancient literature, such as the textual variants, the reading of kanji, and word annotations.
Volume 4 of the Man'yoshu, is a collection of love exchange poems. While the poems span a wide range of dates from the early Manyoshu period to the Tenpyō era, it is characterized by numerous poems exchanged between the Ōtomo clan, centered on Ōtomo no Yakamochi, and the women with whom he corresponded. Within these poems, one can discern various romantic maneuvers and verbal exchanges through poetry.
In this seminar, we will peruse the 4th volume of the Man'yoshu to understand the characteristics of love poems, the view of love at that time, and other aspects of ancient times through the words of these poems.

・本文校異・訓釈・語釈など、上代文学研究の基礎を習得する。

『万葉集』巻4は、相聞歌を収める巻である。作歌年代は初期万葉から天平期まで幅広いが、大伴家持を中心とした大伴一族、また家持と女性たちの贈答歌が多いのが特徴である。そこには歌による様々な恋の駆け引き、ことばの応酬がみてとれる。
本演習では巻4をひもとくことで、『万葉集』における相聞歌の特徴、当時の恋愛観など、古代の諸相を歌のことばからよみといていく。
