Notable chapters from the Take of the Heike, read from the Middle Ages until the present day will be taken up, and readings of the narrative world of the text will aim to understand the specialties and appeal of the text.
First, an overview of the Take of the Heike shall be presented, with explanation of how the seminar will proceed. Next, assignments will be made, and presentations and Q and A will be done. Each assignee will refer to relevant research and annotations, and using that, shall present about the expressions of the text, the narrative structure, variations between texts, relations between illustrations and the text, and the environment which produced the text, and its influence on later works, using each presenter’s own point of view, analysis, and survey work. Understanding of the text’s character, appeal and meaning shall be furthered, and it shall be noted that the method, chapters, and debate content will differ from that covered in Seminar E6.

中世から広く読み継がれてきた『平家物語』の代表的な章段を取りあげ，一つ一つの表現を玩味しながら物語世界をていねいに読み解き，その特質と魅力を理解する．

はじめに『平家物語』について概説し，演習の進め方について説明する．その後，担当者を決め，発表と質疑応答を重ねていく．担当者は，注釈書や先行研究を参照し，それを踏まえながら，表現の特質，物語の構造，諸本の違い，挿絵と本文の関係，物語を生み出しはぐくんだ環境，後世への影響などについて，自分なりの観点から分析と調査を進めて発表する．参加者全員でていねいに読解していくことによって，物語のさまざまな特質や魅力、意義を掘り起こしていくつもりである．なお，演習Ｅ６とは扱う章段・発表の方法・討論の内容などの点で異なるものとなる．
