In this course, we will focus on Feiqe no monongatari(1592, Amacusa), a literary work from the Jesuit mission press (Kirishitan ban) that was used as a textbook in the Collegio, similar to the Esopo no fabulas. Through a linguistic analysis of this work, the course aims to achieve the following objectives:
1 To continue from the spring semester, by understanding the historical background of the compilation of Kirishitan documents and their characteristics as resources.
2 To continue from the spring semester, by learning methods for reading Kirishitan documents, including the procedures and points of caution necessary for their interpretation.
3 To continue from the spring semester, by further exploring the linguistic significance and unique features of Kirishitan documents.
4 To conduct a comparative analysis with the original source, Heike Monogatari, and examine the descriptions in the attached vocabulary collections, aiming to explore the characteristics and editorial innovations of the Feiqe no monongatari, while deepening our understanding of Jesuit approaches to Japanese language learning.
The Amacusa edition of Feiqe no monongatari (held by the British Library) is a literary work from the Jesuit mission press (Kirishitan ban), bound together with the Esopo no fabulas and Kinkushu.
In this course, we will analyze the Feiqe no monongatari from a linguistic perspective, dividing sections among presenters to understand its unique features. Participants will read and interpret their assigned sections while consulting essential resources for studying Kirishitan documents, such as dictionaries from the Jesuit mission press, contemporary lexicons, later academic studies, and relevant databases. They will also investigate and present their findings on points of interest or questions that arise during their analysis.
As part of this process, we will compare the text with its original source and examine the attached vocabulary collections, cotoba no yauarage and Nango kukai, to deepen our understanding of Jesuit approaches to Japanese language learning and their use of vocabulary. Furthermore, as in the spring semester, this course aims not only to read the Feiqe no monongatari but also to engage directly with Kirishitan documents and understand their distinctive characteristics.

本授業では、天草版伊曽保物語と同様、コレジオで教科書として使用されていた文学書である天草版平家物語を国語学的な視点から読解する事で、次を目指す。
１ 春学期に引き続き、基本的なキリシタン資料の編纂背景、資料としての特徴を知る。
２ 春学期に引き続き、キリシタン資料の読み方、資料読解に必要な手順、留意点を学ぶ。
３ 春学期に引き続き、キリシタン資料の国語学的な意義や特徴を知る。
４ 原拠本である平家物語との比較対照や付属している語彙集の記述の調査を行う事で、天草版平家物語の特徴・編纂の工夫を考え、キリシタンの日本語学習について理解を深める。

天草版平家物語(大英図書館蔵)は、天草版伊曽保物語・金句集と合綴されている、キリシタン版の文学書である。
本授業では、この天草版平家物語を、発表者で分担しながら国語学的な観点から読解し、その特徴を理解する。担当範囲の内容を、キリシタン資料を読む際に必要な資料(キリシタン版の辞書類や同時代の辞書、後世の研究書、データベースなど)を確認しながら読解していくとともに、確認が興味・疑問を抱いた点について、それぞれ調査をして発表をしてもらう。
その際に、原拠本との対照や、本文に付属している語彙集である「言葉の和らげ」や、「難語句解」の記述も確認し、キリシタンの日本語学習やキリシタンの語彙の理解について、理解を深める。また、春学期と同様、本授業では天草版平家物語をただ読むというだけではなく、キリシタン資料を実際に読み、その特徴を理解する事も目指す。
