【授業の目標 / Course Objectives】

昭和戦前期・大正期の文学作品を読むことを通して、近現代の日本文学の特質を理解するとともに、文学作品を考察する視角を広げ、卒業論文レベルの文学研究に対応できる研究スキルを獲得することを目標にする。

Through reading literary works from the prewar-Showa and Taisho periods, the goal is to understand the characteristics of modern and contemporary Japanese literature, to broaden one's perspective on literary works, and to acquire the research skills necessary for graduation thesis-level literary research.

【授業の内容 / Course Contents】

昭和戦前期・大正期の文学は、主題（モチーフ）や表現の面では現代文学と近い面があり、現代の読者が直感的に理解できる作品が多いにもかかわらず、その一方で、現代人の価値観や感覚と掛け離れた面を示す場合がある。男女関係や結婚、家族をめぐる主題や、人生や職業をめぐる主題などは、今日の考え方の源流となっていると同時に、今日的な発想では直ちに理解できない領域の代表である。この授業では、そのような時代の短篇小説を素材として、文学作品を共感的な回路とは異なるルートで対象化する手法を学びながら、日本近代文学の内容・形式面での特質の理解を目指す。素材とする作品については、この時期の代表的な作品からマイナーな作品までのバラエティを考慮して、参加者と相談して選択する（演習E21とは異なる作品を扱う）。
はじめに、授業での参加者による報告の準備について、研究文献・資料の検索・収集方法、発表内容の構成の仕方、発表資料の作り方、口頭発表のやり方・ディスカッションへの参加態度など、文学研究の方法・手続きについての説明をする。次に、扱う文学作品を選択し、分担を決める（個人発表とするかグループ発表とするかは受講者の人数によって判断する）。そして、受講者の報告に基づく討議を行っていく。

Although literature of the prewar-Showa and Taisho periods is close to contemporary literature in terms of subject matter (motifs) and expression, and many works can be intuitively understood by modern readers, on the other hand, they sometimes show aspects that are out of touch with the values and sensibilities of modern people.Subjects surrounding gender relations, marriage, and the family, as well as life and career, are the source of today's thinking and at the same time represent areas that cannot be immediately understood with today's ideas. In this class, we will use short stories from such a period as material for learning methods of objectifying literary works through a different route than the sympathetic circuit, while aiming to understand the content and formal qualities of modern Japanese literature. The works to be used as materials will be selected in consultation with the participants, taking into consideration the variety of works from representative to minor works of this period (different works from those in Seminars E21 will be treated).
At the beginning, we will explain the preparation of reports by participants in class on methods of literary research, including how to search and collect research literature and materials, how to structure the content of the presentation, how to prepare presentation materials, and how to give an oral presentation and participate in discussions. Next, course participant will select a literary work to be covered and decide on their assignments (individual or group presentations will depend on the number of participants). Discussions will then be based on the participant' reports.

発表予定者は、担当する作品についての資料・文献の検索・収集、発表内容の構成、発表資料の作成等を進める。討議に参加する役割の参加者は、予め当該作品についての読解・研究を行い、討議の準備をする。すべての参加者には、授業回ごとに小レポートの提出を求める。
