(1) Acquire the attitude to appreciate classical Chinese poetry and prose.
(2) Become able to explain the historical development of Chinese literary studies.
(3) Develop an overall understanding of the relationship between Chinese literary studies and Japanese literature.
Classical Chinese literature is not merely a branch of foreign literature. As exemplified by Natsume Sōseki’s practice of composing Chinese poetry as an avocation, it has also been transmitted as a linguistic form through which Japanese sensibilities have long been articulated. I would like to share with you the richness of classical Chinese texts.

漢文学は単なる外国文学ではありません。例えば夏目漱石が漢詩の実作を趣味にしていたように、日本人の心を表す言葉の形としても受け継がれてきました。漢文の豊かさを、皆さんと共有したいと思います。
