・To understand the content of Nakamura Yukihiko's article, “Bungaku wa 'Ninjo wo iu' no Setu(Literature is a Theory of ‘Human Affections)’” (Kokugo Kokubun, Vol. 20, No. 2, 1951), which is a legendary one in early modern literature studies.The course will also cover the various themes of the above essay, such as Zhu Zhi, Kogi Gaku, Ihara Saikaku, Keichu, Chikamatsu Monzaemon, and Matsuo Basho, within the framework of a single plot.
・To acquire a historical perspective on how famous articles are accepted in later research.
Students will spend one semester carefully reading the article, “Bungaku wa 'Ninjo wo iu' no Setu(Literature is a Theory of ‘Human Affections)’” (Kokugo Kokubun, Vol. 20, No. 2, 1951) by Yukihiko Nakamura. In the article, there are many references to ancient Chinese and ancient Japanese texts, such as “Shijing”, “Tale of Genji”, etc. Students will understand each of these texts by carefully tracing back to the source of the citation or reference. In the end, we would like students to experience the meaning of the phrase in the title of the paper, “Bungaku wa 'Ninjo wo iu”.

・上記論文で扱われる、朱子学・古義学・井原西鶴・契沖・近松門左衛門・松尾芭蕉といった多彩なテーマを一つの筋立ての中で理解する。
・有名な論文が、後世の研究においてどのように捉えられるのかといった研究史的な視点を獲得する。

中村幸彦「文学は「人情を道ふ」の説」（ 『国語国文』第20巻第2号・1951年）を1学期間かけて精読する。論文内には、漢文古文の引用、和漢の有名テクスト（『詩経』や『源氏物語』他）の参照が縦横になされ、扱われる題材も上記「授業の目標」で触れた通り多彩である。それらひとつひとつをじっくりと引用・参照もとまでさかのぼることで理解する。最終的に論文名にある「文学は「人情を道ふ」」というフレーズの意味を体感してもらいたい。
