This lecture will focus on waka narratives, which are relatively short stories centred on waka poems.Through the reading and understanding of various waka narratives, learn about the aspects of the formation of the tale from the oral tradition related to the poem and the role of waka in the tale.
Select particularly important chapters from the waka narratives "Ise Monogatari", "Yamato Monogatari" and "Heichu Monogatari" and read them closely, paying attention to the elements that make up the tales and the background to their formation. The short story "Haizumi" from "Tsutsumi Chûnagon Monogatari", a collection of short stories, is also taken up and explained as a work that has the character of a poetry tale.

授業は講義資料・板書を利用した講義形式で行う。コメントの提出、レポート課題の提示などに「Canvas LMS」を利用する。
本講義では、和歌を中心とした短編物語である歌物語を取り上げる。様々な歌物語の読解を通し、歌に関わる口承から物語が成立する様相や、物語における和歌の役割について学ぶ。

歌物語である『伊勢物語』『大和物語』『平中物語』から特に重要な章段を選び、物語を構成する要素や物語成立の背景に留意しつつ精読する。また短編物語集である『堤中納言物語』所収の『はいずみ』を、歌物語的性格を有する作品として取り上げ、解説する。
