The aim of this course is to acquire knowledge of modern and contemporary Japanese literature and to examine the relationship between these literatures and social and cultural events.
The goal is for students to be able to think about literature from multiple perspectives.
This course is designed to deepen understanding of the relationship between the establishment and development of modern and contemporary Japanese literature and the trends in Japanese society and culture in general that were simultaneously underway.
In particular, we will pay attention not only to the activities of individual writers, but also to the relationship between publishing, journalism, and education as the infrastructure for the establishment of literature, and we will read and discern the history of literature, taking into account the views of those in each position.

日本近現代文学に関する知識を身につけつつ、それらと社会との関係について考察することを目標とする。
文学を広い視野に基づき捉え返すことができるようになることを目指す。
The aim of this course is to acquire knowledge of modern and contemporary Japanese literature and to examine the relationship between these literatures and social and cultural events.

日本近現代文学の成立や展開と、同時に進行していた日本社会や文化全般の動向との関係を知り、理解を深める。
特に、個々の作家の活動だけでなく、文学が成立するためのインフラとしての出版やジャーナリズム、教育などの状況との関係に注意を向け、それぞれの立場の人びとの目論見も視野に入れつつ、文学史を読み解き、見きわめる。
