Through analysis of literary texts and visual expressions, we will train students' ability to consider the people and various aspects of society, customs and culture that are depicted. We will interpret literary texts and train students' ability to restructure the problems that the texts raise in their own words.
"This lecture examines Japanese literature from the 1950s through the 1970s. After achieving postwar recovery through the economic boom driven by the Korean War in the 1950s, Japan experienced nearly twenty years of uninterrupted economic expansion. This marked the arrival of the so-called 'High Economic Growth' period. In an era defined by mass production and mass consumption, literary expression diversified to an unprecedented degree. Furthermore, 'media-mix' collaborations with film, theater, television drama, and manga became increasingly vibrant. This course aims to historically analyze the literature of the High Economic Growth period while providing an in-depth exploration of the works that symbolize this era."

授業で扱う小説については、毎回、授業時間外での精読を指示し、各自の〈読み〉をリアクション・ペーパーにまとめてもらう。また、リアクション・ペーパーのなかで特に優れた内容のものを翌週の授業冒頭で紹介し、複数の〈読み〉を共有する。授業で扱うテキストはPDF化してCanvas LMSに掲載する。

文学テキストや映像表現の分析を通して、そこに描かれる人間、および、社会・風俗・文化の諸相を考察する能力を鍛える。文学テキストを解釈し、そのテキストが投げかけている問題を自らの言葉で編成し直す能力を鍛える。

1950年代から1970年代にかけての文学を講義します。1950年代に起こった朝鮮戦争の特需景気を経て戦後復興を遂げた日本は、その後、20年近くにわたって右肩上がりの経済成長を続けました。いわゆる高度経済成長期の到来です。大量生産・大量消費の時代にあって文学表現はかつてないほど多様化します。映画、演劇、ドラマ、マンガとのメディア・ミックスも活発になります。講義では、高度経済成長期の文学を歴史的に検証するとともに、この時代を象徴する作品を深く掘り下げて考察したいと思います。
