In this class, we will discuss seasonal words in classical waka poetry. The purpose of this course is to understand the history and tradition of expression starting from waka poetry to renga and haikai. Also, acquire the ability to interpret classical waka poetry.
In this class, we will examine the seasonal words of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, especially summer. For each theme, we will examine the historical development of expression by reading Heian waka, medieval waka, renga, and haikai.

古典和歌における季節のことばを取りあげ、和歌にはじまり連歌・俳諧に至る歴史的展開をたどることを通して、表現の伝統がどのように形成され、どのように新たな表現を生み出していったかを理解する。具体的な作品の読解にもとづいて考察することにより、和歌を解釈する力を身につける。

春夏秋冬の季節のことば（季題・季語）のなかでも、とくに夏を取りあげる。各テーマごとに、平安和歌、中世和歌、連歌、俳諧の具体例を読み解きながら、表現の歴史的展開について考察する。
