By analyzing and understanding "Shikido-Ohkagami", a first-class source for early modern literature, students will acquire basic knowledge and methods of thinking, and by cultivating the basic and applied abilities to attempt to interpret early modern literature, they will develop the ability to accurately read a variety of early modern works.
We will closely examine "Shikido-Ohkagami",a rare encyclopedia of pleasure quarters even on a global scale, and, taking into consideration the circumstances at the time of its creation, explore the creative intentions and aesthetic sense of its author, Fujimoto Kizan.

近世文芸を扱う際の第一級資料である『色道大鏡』を分析し、理解することで、基礎的な知識と思考の方法を身につけるとともに、近世文芸の読解を試みることのできる基本的及び応用的能力を養い、近世の多様な作品を的確に読みこなす能力を養成する。

世界的に見ても稀有な遊里百科事典ともいうべき『色道大鏡』を精読し、また、成立当時の状況を考慮しながら、作者である藤本箕山の制作意図と美意識を追及する。
