The objectives of this class are to
・understand how to approach philosophical questions through the “classics” and to be able to put such methods into practice,
・acquire one's own perspective on the significance of the “classics” for modern people.
In the book selected as text, various philosophical researchers answer life-counseling questions such as “I am easily influenced by others' opinions” or “I am struggling with my parents,” using “classics” in their respective fields as clues. In this class, through each student's presentation, we would like to confirm the contents of the “classics” that were used as clues, and to consider whether or not a valid answer was given and whether or not another way of answering the question is possible.
Through this process, we will deepen our thoughts on the significance of the “classics” and how they are connected to people today.
In the end, each participant is expected to ask his or her own question to some “classic” and come up with his or her own answers.

この授業の到達目標は以下のとおり。
・哲学的な問いに対して「古典」からアプローチする方法を知るとともに、自らその方法を実践できる。
・現代人にとっての「古典」の意義について自分自身の視座を獲得する。

テキストに選定した書物では、「人の意見にすぐ影響されてしまいます」とか「親との関係に悩んでいます」といった人生相談的な問いについて、さまざまな哲学研究者がそれぞれの分野の「古典」を手がかりに答えている。この授業では、受講者それぞれの発表を通じて、実際に手がかりとされた「古典」の内容を確認し、有効な答えが与えられたのかどうか、別の答え方もあり得るのかについて考察していきたい。
その作業を通じて、「古典」の意義やそれと現代人との繋がり方について考えを深めていく。
最終的には受講者それぞれが、何らかの「古典」に自らの問いを投げかけてそれなりの答えを導き出すことを目指す。
