This course examines texts in contemporary French philosophy. We will primarily focus on works that address the theme of what it means to "philosophize." The objective of this course is to help students develop the ability to analyze the structure of arguments, summarize them accurately, and formulate their own inquiries based on the readings. Knowledge of French is not required, as we will primarily use Japanese translations of the texts.
The course will primarily take the form of a reading seminar. An assigned presenter will prepare a handout on their designated section in advance and give a presentation during class. All other students are expected to read the text beforehand and actively engage in discussions with the presenter. We plan to cover specific texts such as Chapter 3 of Gilles Deleuze’s Difference and Repetition, Chapter 1 of Henri Bergson’s Matter and Memory, and Chapter 3 of Michel Foucault’s The Archaeology of Knowledge.

この授業では現代フランス哲学のテクストを行う。おもに「哲学する」とはどういうことかという主題に取り組んだテクストを取りあげる。議論の構造を読み取り、それを的確にまとめ、そこから自分の問いを引き出す力をつけることを目標とする。基本的には日本語訳のテクストを扱うので、フランス語の知識は必須ではない。

授業は基本的に講読の形式をとる。担当者は事前に担当範囲のレジュメを作成し、それをもとに授業で発表する。他の受講者も事前にテクストを読み込み、発表者とともにディスカッションする。取りあげるテクストはドゥルーズ『差異と反復』第3章、ベルクソン『物質と記憶』第1章、フーコー『知の考古学』第3章を予定している。
