【授業の目標 / Course Objectives】

この授業の到達目標は以下のとおり。
・「古典」解釈の個性や自由が伝統的制約といかに関係するかについて理解を得る。
・学生それぞれの「古典」への接し方について見通しを得る。
・古典文法や旧字体で書かれた文章に親しみ、日本語表現の歴史的重層性への理解を深める。

The objectives of this class are to
・gain an understanding of how individuality and freedom in interpreting the classics relate to traditional constraints,
・gain an understanding of how each student should approach the classics,
・deepen students' understanding of the historical layers of Japanese language expression through familiarity with classical grammar and texts written in the old script.

【授業の内容 / Course Contents】

近代日本の指導的実業家、渋沢栄一（1840-1931）は、「論語と算盤」の標語のもと、道徳と経済の合一を説いたことで知られる。彼の『論語講義』は、実際の執筆者は別人であり、漢学者・三島中洲の講義も利用されていることが知られている。したがって渋沢の『論語』解釈としてそのまま受け入れることは困難だが、一方では自由自在な語り方で「非常に面白い」との評価もある。
この授業では、『論語』の代表的な章について学生がそれぞれ担当し、当時までの『論語』解釈の歴史も参照しながら、渋沢の名のもとに展開された解釈内容を分析する。それを通じて、『論語』の読み方の幅の広さを感得するとともに、それぞれなりの『論語』の読み方を見つける一助とする。

Shibusawa Eiichi(1840-1931), a leading businessman of modern Japan, is known for his preaching of the union of morality and economics under the motto “Analects and Arithmetic.It is known that his Rongo Kōgi(Lectures on the Analects) were actually written by a different author, and that the book also relied on the notes by Mishima Chūshū, a kangaku(study of the Chinese classics) scholar.Therefore, it is difficult to accept Shibusawa's interpretation of the Analects as it is, but on the other hand, its free and unrestrained way of narrating the Analects has been praised as “very interesting”.
In this class, each student will be assigned a representative chapter of the Analects, and while referring to the history of interpretations of the Analects up to that time, we will analyze the content of interpretations developed in Shibusawa's name. Through this, students will gain an appreciation of the wide range of ways in which the Analects can be read, and will be helped to find their own way of reading the Analects.

必須の前提知識ではないが、日本語の文語文法や旧字体、漢文訓読法、日本史上の人名やエピソードなどについて、臆することなく理解に取り組む姿勢が重要。

資料の共有や最終レポートの提出にCanvas LMSを用いる。
発表用資料、最終レポートの作成にPCが必要。
Canvas上で共有した資料を参照することもあるため、PCもしくはタブレットの持参が望ましい。
