- Acquisition of Analytical Skills in Visual Cognition and Representation: To acquire the knowledge and analytical skills necessary to critically and academically examine the mental processes of "seeing"—perceiving and thinking through vision—in relation to visual representation.
- Cultivation of a Critical Perspective on Everyday Representations: To foster a critical mindset toward the conventions and norms surrounding the visual experiences and representations encountered in daily life.
- Mastery of Academic Communication and Textual Analysis: To master the methodology of accurate and critical reading of academic texts, and to gain practical experience in academic communication through intensive reading and oral presentations.
- Seminar on Methodologies of Image Analysis: This course focuses on the "Methodologies of Image Analysis" through the reading of foundational texts. Each session consists of a presentation by an individual student or a small group (2–3 members), followed by a whole-class discussion.
- Theoretical Foundations of Visuality and Representation: Through the collaborative reading (rinkoku) of seminal texts, students will examine key concepts and theories essential for the academic and critical analysis of the act of "seeing," the nature of visuality, and modes of visual representation.
- Practice in Academic Literacy and Communication: The course aims to develop skills in the accurate and critical reading of scholarly texts. Furthermore, through presentations and class discussions, students will master the methods of professional academic presentation and communication.

・「視ること」「視覚によって認識し思考すること」という人間の精神的な営みと、視覚的な表現について、批評的・学術的な観点から分析・考察するための知識とスキルを身につける。
・日常生活で触れる視覚や表象にまつわる約定に対して、批評的に思考する態度を養う。
・文献精読と発表を通して、学術的テクストを正確かつ批評的な読み方、学術的なコミュニケーションの方法論的知識と実践的経験を修得する。

・「イメージ分析の方法論」をテーマに、基礎文献を講読する。1名もしくは2〜3名の小グループによる報告の後に、全員でディスカッションを行う。
・「視ること」や「視覚のあり方」、「視覚的な表現」を学術的・批評的に分析するために重要な概念・理論を、いくつかの基礎文献の輪読を通して学ぶ。
・文献発表とディスカッションを通して、学術的なテクストの正確で批評的な読み方、アカデミックな場でのプレゼンテーションとコミュニケーションの方法を学ぶ。
