The goals of this course are to
・gain one's own perspective on the significance of the “classics” for modern people,
・be able to analyze the contents of “classic” texts from an original perspective.
Using a book designed to spread awareness of the significance of the “classics” among young people as a guide, we will examine the effectiveness of this attempt by comparing it with actual “classic” texts. Through this process, the participants will deepen their ideas about the significance of the “classics” and how they are connected to people today.
In the end, each student will select a “classic” and express his/her own reflection on its significance in the form of an essay.

授業形態は基本的に発表とそれにもとづくクラス内での議論による。クラス状況に応じて発表の形態は適宜工夫する。
宿題や最終レポートの提出にCanvas LMSを用いる。
この授業の到達目標は以下のとおり。
・現代人にとっての「古典」の意義について自分自身の視座を獲得する。
・「古典」テクストの内容について、独自の着眼から分析できるようになる。

「古典」の意義についての認識を若年層に広めるために企画された書物をガイド役としながら、実際の「古典」テクストと照らし合わせてその試みの有効性を検証する。その作業を通じて、「古典」の意義やそれと現代人との繋がり方について考えを深めていく。
最終的には受講者それぞれが一つの「古典」を選定し、その意義についての考察を論文形式で表現することを目指す。
