In this "Introduction to Strategic Management" course, you will dive deep into the essentials of strategic management, set against the backdrop of current global trends. Through interactive case studies and group discussions, you'll not only enhance your decision-making and analytical skills for the business world but also gain valuable insights and approaches that can positively impact your personal life decisions and planning. Students will learn to evaluate a firm's internal and external environments using foundational frameworks like VRIO and Porter’s Five Forces to identify sustainable competitive advantages. The course focuses on formulating effective business-level strategies, such as cost leadership and differentiation, to navigate competitive industry landscapes.
This introductory course introduces the foundational AFI (Analysis, Formulation, Implementation) strategy framework, focusing on how firms achieve and sustain competitive advantage within a domestic context. Students explore the external environment through PESTEL and industry analysis while simultaneously evaluating internal resources and capabilities via the VRIO framework. The content culminates in the study of business-level strategies, teaching students how to position a company through cost leadership, differentiation, and innovation.
