The course explores the complex relationship between innovation, socio-political institutions and cultural values in the complex world of the Japanese business. The lessons are based on a multi-disciplinary approach, merging unique case studies, professional experience, and theoretical background from economics, sociology, business anthropology, and political science. During the course, students will develop sharp critical insights and new skills that are valuable for understanding the real complex business maps, and will experience how to develop their own business based on Design Thinking strategies.
The course offers real-life examples, case studies, open discussions, and independent research. Participants will analyze current global issues, understand the meaning of Japanese business style, and practice developing their own startup business following the case studies presented.
The course presents a wide array of creative business models, new work styles and contemporary employment possibilities, with the goal of developing the necessary skills required for designing sustainable societies and a healthy, satisfied life for individuals and societies. Throughout the course, students will investigate complex ethical issues, that are constantly increasing in the global market, explore what's behind multicultural and political conflicts, and will understand the significant role that good business practices play in tackling emerging crises, such as labour inequality, pollution, human rights, and more.
The course offers a practical workshop in designing a startup based on a business model from the initial concept to the final financial plan. Thus, students have a unique opportunity to experience the process of business planning, development of advanced virtual tools, facing shareholders, calculating financial profits and assessing future financial losses.
