Each student is asked to select an area of specialization they would like to pursue in graduate school (academic research). The objective is to provide a solid (theoretical) foundation in the chosen area of specialization which will prepare the student for graduate admissions examinations and course work at the graduate level. Students are encouraged to improve on their TOEIC scores (TOEFL or IELTS).
Each student is asked to select a research topic (field of specialization) in consultation with the instructor, develop a reading list, and present their findings to the class. The reading list should include accessible academic research papers (published or unpublished) and/or chapters from an academic text involving economic analysis and/or applied statistics in the context finance, sports & entertainment business and/or management. For example, in AY2018, students elected to study mergers & acquisitions as a class and in AY2019 students studied sports business as a class.
