【Course Objectives】

After taking this course, students should:
1) have a clear understanding of university regulations and responsibilities for exchange students
2) be better prepared to undertake studies at our partner institutions
3) better appreciate diversity (difference in cultural background)
4) be able relate study abroad to longer term goals

【Course Contents】

The course provides a series of lectures and workshops preparing students for study abroad as an exchange student at one of our partner institutions. Attendance for all sessions is required. Students are also required to participate/attend orientation and workshops sponsored by the university international center. Students must earn a grade of "A" or higher for this course in order to participate in the study abroad program in the Fall term (Spring term).

This is a one credit Spring Quarter 1 course. Students should also be prepared to connect online zoom with an appropriate device with a stable internet connection (lectures and joint sessions with faculty/guests from abroad).

【授業時間外(予習・復習等)の学修 / Study Required Outside of Class】

Check Canvas on a regular basis for weekly prep assignments. Assignments range from preparing for group discussion to reviewing important internal documents for exchange. The final reflective essay is an important part of this course.
At Rikkyo university, one credit is defined as 45 hours of study (including class time). Based on this, students are expected to engage in both pre-class preparation and post-class review.

Students should have a PC notebook and/or pad and a stable access to the internet (from home).
In principle, this class is ONLINE (partially face-to-face). You will need access to a stable internet connection in an appropriate learning environment (including device) especially for select sessions with guest speakers and for workshops with students from abroad (special online zoom sessions will be announced at least one week in advance).

【その他 / Others】

Undergraduate students accepted to the college of business study abroad program (exchange program) are automatically registered for this course. Course schedule and content is subject to change (all changes/modifications will be posted on Canvas and announced in class). Students are expected to check Canvas and their Rikkyo email account on a regular basis for announcements.
