In order to make Rikkyo University’s education objective of “developing cultured, specialized individuals” into a reality, this course aims to instill students with fundamental knowledge on economics from the standpoint of global history as a pretext to diving into any more specialized field. Furthermore, this course aims to cultivate a fluid intelligence through learning to historically grasp economics through various approaches.
Why do incomes and standards of living vary greatly from country to country and region to region? What kind of context exists for things like international currency problems and financial crises? In order to consider global issues that cannot be grasped solely with knowledge of the framework or points of view of a national economy, this course examines things from the angle of global history as it exists from the 14th century to the present day.

国や地域によって，なぜ所得や生活水準に大きな格差があるのだろうか。国際的な通貨問題や金融危機には，どのような背景があるのだろうか。一国的な国民経済の枠組み・視点では捉えきれないグローバルな問題を考えるために，14世紀から現代までの歴史的な過程について，「グローバルヒストリー」という視角から考えてみたい。
