To be able to handle statistical data, mainly production and GDP, with a bird's eye view of the overall frame of official statistics.
As we welcome the age of big data, the methods for creating statistics are changing greatly. The lecture in this class uses its own text to give students a rough image of public statistics overall. The public statistics system can be divided into an external framework that is roughly comprehensive and an internal framework focused on the system for national accounts. The class is divided into first and second halves. During the first half of the course the overall framework of public statistics is explained. The scope of the lecture partially corresponds with the contents necessary for the qualification of Survey Statistician. The second half of the course is a seminar covering the analytical techniques and seasonal adjustment methods mainly used for economic statistics.

講義に続き、演習を行う授業となる。PCを利用するため、授業に際して事前に準備いただく必要がある。
授業に当たって統計学１・２を事前に履修しておくことが望ましい。授業は統計検定・統計調査士分野を網羅するように行う。授業を受けながら、統計調査士及び統計検定3級の資格受験をお勧めする。設備や環境に左右されることから、授業内容に多少の変更があり得る。

ビッグデータの時代を迎えて、統計作成の方法が大きく変化してきている。この授業では公的統計全体を大まかにイメージできるよう独自のテキストで講義を行う。公的統計制度は、概ね全体としての外側の枠組みと、国民経済計算体系を中心とした内側のフレームの2種類に分かれる。授業は前後半で分かれる。授業の前半では公的統計全体の枠組みを説明する。この範囲は統計調査士資格と内容が一部重複する。授業後半では経済統計で主に用いられる分析手法から、季節調整法といったいくつかの分野での演習を行う。
