[Knowledge] Students will acquire knowledge of major economic events and the characteristics of the Japanese economy, relevant theories, and keywords.
[Critical Thinking Skills] Students will develop critical thinking skills through a project topic of their choice, class discussions, and writing.
[Discussion Skills] Students will improve their ability to engage in constructive debate.
The content includes lectures, discussions, group activities, a project (essay or presentation), and short assignments. Japanese Economy 1 covers trends in growth and stagnation, characteristics of Japanese firms and industrial structure, government economic policy, and financial markets. Japanese Economy 2 focuses on savings, demographics, the labor market, and international trade and finance. The order of topics can be adjusted to maximize the learning experience.

Students are expected to complete the assigned readings before each class meeting. Please spend at least 2 hours per week to participate in class discussions. 毎週、授業前に指定の教材を読んで出席し、積極的に発言してください。予習・復習に週2時間は確保してください。時間をかけて学ぶことで、本学生も英語で発言し、成績上位を達成しています。

Students should be familiar with the basics of academic essay writing, including referencing techniques. Examinations will be in essay format. A strong sense of academic honesty is also required. 学期前に教材を確認し、内容が自分の興味や英語力に合っているかどうかを判断してください。小論文の書き方は、一年次の基礎ゼミ等の内容を熟知しておくこと。試験は、小論文形式で行います。また学問的誠実さを求め、剽窃、AIの不適切利用には厳正に対処します。
