Welcome to this course! We will study the dynamism inherent in economic development by analyzing modern and contemporary world economic history from a global perspective that is not limited to a single country. Based on this perspective, students will acquire knowledge to apply to the analysis and the discussion of wide economic phenomena in modern society.
Additionally, the medium of instruction in this course is Japanese.
Globalization is a phenomenon in which various networks of people, goods, money, and information are formed across national borders. Globalization began during the Age of Discovery from the 15th to 16th centuries, when Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas were connected by a maritime network of sailing ships. In addition, new networks such as railroads and telegraphs played a major role in promoting globalization.
In this class, we will examine globalization from the perspective of the movement of goods, or logistics. The increase in international trade since the end of the Cold War has inevitably increased the importance of the logistics system. In this class, we will examine how various technologies and services that support logistics, including containers, have developed in the process of globalization and how they have affected our lives.

本ゼミナールでは一国に留まらないグローバルな視点から近現代の歴史を分析することで、経済発展に内在するダイナミズムを学習します。また、こうした観点に基づくことで現代社会における多種多様な経済現象の分析・考察に応用する能力を獲得することを目指します。
なお、本ゼミナールの教授言語は日本語とします。

グローバル化とはヒト・モノ・カネ・情報が行き交う様々なネットワークが国境を越えて形成される現象です。グローバル化は15世紀から16世紀にかけての大航海時代、ヨーロッパとアジア、アフリカ、アメリカ大陸が帆船などの海上ネットワークにより繋がることで幕を開けました。19世紀になると帆船から汽船へと船舶技術が発達し、それに加えて鉄道や電信という新たなネットワークがグローバル化の促進に大きな役割を果たしました。
本授業ではグローバル化をモノの移動、すなわち物流という観点から考察します。冷戦終結後の国際的な取引の活発化は、物流システムの重要性を必然的に高めました。本授業では、コンテナをはじめとした物流を支えるさまざまな技術やサービスがグローバル化の過程でいかに発展し、私たちの生活にどのような影響を及ぼしたかを考察します。
Globalization is a phenomenon in which various networks of people, goods, money, and information are formed across national borders.
