The goal of this course is to understand the mechanisms by which macroeconomic variables such as GDP, inflation, and unemployment rates fluctuate, and the effects of economic policies aimed at controlling these variables. The course aims to provide students with the knowledge necessary to understand economic phenomena from both a factual (economic indicators and economic news) and logical (macroeconomics) perspective, and to grasp what is happening in front of their eyes. Then, be able to talk about and discuss the current situation and outlook on your own.
Participants will obtain and process data and materials posted on the websites of government agencies such as the Cabinet Office, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Bank of Japan, and summarize their own interpretations and arguments regarding economic trends. Then, discuss the pros and cons of each viewpoint with other participants.
In order to avoid self-serving interpretations and arguments, you will also learn the basic concepts of macroeconomics through the textbook. You will learn that there are various ways of thinking about macroeconomics and that there are multiple ways of looking at the same data. When an argument differs from one's own viewpoint, students will be able to understand the logic behind that viewpoint and why there is a difference in viewpoints. We will also consider how one opinion is chosen and policy decisions are made when multiple ideas coexist.

GDP、物価上昇率、失業率といったマクロ経済変数がどのようなメカニズムで変動し、それらのコントロールを目指す経済政策がどのような効果を期待して実施されるかについて理解することを目標とします。経済現象をファクト（経済指標、経済ニュース）とロジック（マクロ経済学）の両面からとらえ、目前でおきていることを把握するために必要な知識の習得を目指します。その上で、現状や見通しについて自ら語り、議論できるようになりましょう。

内閣府、財務省、経済産業省、日本銀行といった官庁ホームページに掲載されているデータや資料を入手加工し、経済の動きに対する自分なりの解釈、主張をまとめます。その上で、他の参加者と各々の見方の是非について議論しましょう。
ひとりよがりの解釈、主張とならないように、教科書を通してマクロ経済学の基本的な考え方も学びます。マクロ経済学には多様な考え方があり、同じデータを見ていても複数の見方があることを学びます。自身の考えと異なる主張がなされた場合も、その考えの背景にはどのようなロジックがあり、なぜ考え方の相違が生じるのかが理解できるようにします。複数の考え方が共存する中で、どのような判断でひとつの意見が選ばれ、政策決定がなされるのかについても考えてみましょう。
Participants will obtain and process data and materials posted on the websites of government agencies such as the Cabinet Office, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Bank of Japan, and summarize their own interpretations and arguments regarding economic trends. Then, discuss the pros and cons of each viewpoint with other participants.
