【Course Objectives】

A discussion of topical issues in Economics to make it interesting for students to learn the underlying subject content as well as to practice reading, listening and expressing themselves in the English language.

【Course Contents】

This course presents a brief history of economic ideas (and a sprinkling of geopolitics) that have impacted our lives in recent times, with particular reference to financial crises, and growing national indebtedness.

Each class will be divided into 2 parts. The first half will be a lecture presentation using powerpoint slides. The second half will be group discussions, with 4 or 5 students per group. A member of each group may be required to present the group's findings.
It would be helpful if students bring along an internet accessible device (tablet, laptop) for use in group discussion.
