【Course Objectives】

This course presents a discussion about the economics of renewable energy, with examples of initiatives from around the world to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions.

【Course Contents】

After the class, students should have a broad knowledge of the issues related to renewable energy. These include the sources of renewable energy, the reasons for switching from fossil fuels to renewable energy, the various government initiatives to achieve renewable energy targets and Net Zero carbon emissions. It also presents the challenges and contradictions of adopting renewable energy, with respect to infrastructural and resource constraints, environmental degradation and human rights, and issues of national and energy security.

Each class will be divided into 2 parts. The first part will be a lecture presentation. The second part will be group discussions, with 4 or 5 students per group. A member of each group may be required to present the group's findings.
