【Course Objectives】

This seminar welcomes students who are eager to learn and aims to provide a warm learning environment. The seminar has three core objectives: (1) acquiring knowledge, (2) developing multifaceted analytical methods, and (3) strengthening communication skills. Through case studies related to the Japanese economy, corporate management, strategy, and culture, students will gain knowledge in this field. Building on this foundation, students will learn to examine a topic and draw well-reasoned, persuasive conclusions through critical, multifaceted thinking. Students also apply this knowledge and these analytical methods to develop their communication skills by writing short papers and giving presentations. Readings will be in English and Japanese, and discussions will be in Japanese.

【Course Contents】

Content: Reading, presentations, discussions, and academic writing.

During the spring, the responsible student gives a presentation on the assigned reading, followed by a class discussion. Students also write short papers. In the fall, students select a research topic, conduct research, and give presentations. This lays the groundwork for their junior and senior years.
