【Course Objectives】

Students will cultivate standard theoretical thinking in economics and learn its application to real-world issues.

【Course Contents】

Economic theory is a subject that students often tend to shy away from. However, a theory is essentially nothing less than a systematized framework for viewing and thinking about complex realities. Simply accumulating piecemeal knowledge about real-world economics makes it nearly impossible for an individual to process such an overwhelming amount of information. The vital role of theory lies precisely in providing a consistent perspective and a structured mindset to navigate such complexity. The true value of studying economic theory, therefore, lies in acquiring this very ability to think systematically.
With this awareness in mind, our seminar involves reading texts on economic theory and its applications in turns, followed by presentations from designated members and open discussions with all participants.
Furthermore, in recent years, group activities—most notably participating in the Securities Seminar Competition—have come to account for a significant portion of our seminar work. Therefore, we welcome highly motivated students who are willing to take an active and proactive approach to these collaborative efforts.
