The objective of this course is to acquire concepts for understanding natural phenomena based on the physics of atoms, molecules, and their interaction with light. This introductory course is designed to provide basic knowledge and an overview of the field of AMO physics. For a more rigorous understanding and practical application, it is recommended to take the lecture course "Atomic and Molecular Physics" after this course.
The class will roughly follow the course schedule below. A simple assignment will be given during the lecture to check the level of understanding.

本授業の目的は，基礎的な電磁気学，量子力学の知識を使って，多くの自然現象の根源である原子や分子の構造，光との相互作用を物理学的に理解する概念を身につけることです。
概論科目であるので，入門レベルの基礎的知識の提供と，幅広いトピックをカバーすることをコンセプトにします。より厳密な理解と実践的な応用については，本科目のあと，講究科目「原子分子物理学」の履修を推奨します。

おおまかに下記の授業計画に沿って行う予定です。
100分間聴きっぱなしだと飽きるので，実際に手を動かして理解を確認する（そして少し感動する）作業を取り入れたいと思っています。これまで，「原子が光を吸うと電子の軌道が移る（励起）」とか，「原子間で電子を共有すると安定（共有結合）」とか，天下り的に教わってきた色々なことは，実は大学３年生までの物理で正確に説明することができます。せっかく物理を学んだのだからきちんと知りたくないですか！？
