In this course, students will visit corporations in America’s Silicon Valley. Through hearing the stories of people working there and discussing with them, students will learn about what working overseas is like while getting an opportunity to think about the path they wish to take in the future.
Students who take this course will attend three lectures at Rikkyo University before embarking on a week long field trip to a company on the outskirts of Silicon Valley, where they will hear the stories of people that work there. Throughout the trip, students will keep a daily journal of their activities which they will email to their instructor. Furthermore, upon returning to Japan, students will summarize any thoughts and ideas they have conceived regarding their future as a result of the trip, which they will present to the class.

イノベーションの一大拠点とされるアメリカシリコンバレーの企業見学やそこで働く人の話を聞き議論することで、海外で働くことについて、また自分の将来の進む道について考える機会を持つ。

履修者は立教大学での3回の事前学習のあと約１週間に渡るプロジェクト型学習に取り組みつつ、シリコンバレー近郊の会社見学、およびシリコンバレーで働く人の話を聞く。その間、毎日の活動日誌をつけて担当教員と内容を共有する。さらに、帰国後体験したことを踏まえて、自己の将来について考えたことをまとめて事後授業の報告会でプレゼンテーションを行う。

事前学習には宿題も出る。さらに、危機管理オリエンテーションと渡航直前オリエンテーションに出席のこと。履修に際して英語の能力は問わないが、渡航前に英語によるコミュニケーション力を付けるために努力することを求める。また、訪問する会社、話を聞く会社について、ホームページ等で予習する。

・立教大学への授業料とは別に参加費が必要である。途中参加、途中帰国は原則として認めない。履修中止不許可科目である。費用は渡航費、滞在費、保険などを含めて約50万円程度を見込んでいるが、履修者は立教大学のグローバル奨学金（全学年）、校友会成績優秀者留学支援（2年以上）に応募することができる。なお、感染症等の状況により実施形態が変更となる場合がある。その場合の参加費は別途通知する。
・最小催行人数に満たない場合、本科目は休講扱いとなる。
・履修希望者は履修説明会に出席したうえ、履修希望届を提出すること。担当教員による選考の結果、履修が認められた者のみが履修登録される。また、履修登録後の取消はできない。
