- understand the relation of climate change and biodiversity through studying land use change and forest conditions

- realize the challenges to cope with climate change and obtain abilities to study and develop actions and policies on climate change
In this course, participating students learn the causes and impacts of global climate change, and study the concept of carbon neutral(CN) and the strategies to mitigate climate change. Students will learn scientific knowledge on relation of green house gases(GHGs) emission and global warming, the major GHGs and their emission sources, and the impacts of climate change on ecological systems and our society.
Students also learn concrete CN measures such as renewable energy development, energy efficiencies improvement, carbon offsetting, carbon capture and storage technologies, afforestation and forest protection.
International climate policies and agreements (e.g. The Paris Agreement), each country's policies for CN, climate actions of citizens as social actions will be studied in this course. Participating students are expected to study critically the policy and technology approaches towards sustainable society.
Participating students will have multi-aspects view on mitigation and adaptation of climate change through lectures and group discussions. Students are expected to develop practical knowledge and skills to realize sustainable energy use and carbon neutral society.
This course will be delivered by multiple lecturers in an omnibus style. (total 14 lectures)

・講義やグループワークを通じて、気候変動問題への取り組みの状況の課題を認識し、今後の取り組みについて考察し、立案できる能力を身につける。

地球規模で進行する気候変動の原因と影響を理解し、気候変動を緩和するためのカーボンニュートラル（炭素中立）の概念とその実現に向けた戦略を学ぶ科目である。この授業では、温室効果ガス（GHGs）の排出と地球温暖化の関係、主要な温室効果ガスの種類とその発生源、気候変動が生態系や社会に与える影響の科学的な分析を学ぶ。
カーボンニュートラルを実現するための具体的な手法として、再生可能エネルギーの導入、エネルギー効率の改善、カーボンオフセット、炭素回収・貯留技術（CCS）、植林や森林保護などの科学的な観点からの解決策も取り扱う。また、国際的な気候政策や合意（パリ協定など）、各国のカーボンニュートラルに向けた取り組み、市民による社会運動としての気候アクション等についても学び、持続可能な社会構築に向けた政策的・技術的アプローチを批判的に考察する。
学生は講義やグループディスカッションを通じて、気候変動の緩和と適応に向けた多角的な視点を養い、持続可能なエネルギー利用や脱炭素社会の実現に向けた実践的な知識とスキルを身につけることを目指す。
オムニバス形式で複数の教員が担当する。（オムニバス方式／全１４回）
In this course, participating students learn the causes and impacts of global climate change, and study the concept of carbon neutral(CN) and the strategies to mitigate climate change.
