| 備考/ NotesNotes |
The course aims to create a basic understanding for modern climate science, on what it tells us, what it does not, and how far this matters. This includes our knowledge of warming, the human influence, emissions, climate models, heat and storms, precipitation, flooding, forest fires, sea levels, impending catastrophes, the role of genuine science and how to maintain it. Attention will also be given to ways to respond to global warming, including the aim of CO2 emission reductions, economic and political aspects. The course also tries to understand biodiversity and its development, as well as the question of environmental pollution of land, water, air and biosphere.
We, humans, living in the current world are facing the triple planetary crises. The triple planetary issues partially caused by human activities – climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution – impact the lives of people all over the world though in an unfair pattern. This course aims at letting students gain basic understanding of these issues from both natural and social scientific approaches and discuss how we can possibly find ways to overcome this crisis.
