Notes

【Course Objectives】

This course is primarily intended for students who have not studied physics in high school and is designed as an introductory course that bridges high school–level learning with the study of physics at the university level.
By learning the fundamental concepts and ways of thinking in physics without an excessive emphasis on mathematical techniques, the course aims to deepen students’ understanding of natural phenomena and science and technology in everyday life, and to cultivate the ability to view issues from multiple perspectives and make more informed judgments.
In addition, through a physics-based perspective, students will develop a foundation in scientific thinking.

【Course Contents】

Focusing mainly on mechanics from the high school physics curriculum, selected essential topics are studied through lectures, demonstration experiments, and problem-solving exercises, together with the basic mathematics required for physics.
Throughout the course, students are encouraged to reconsider physical ideas and laws from a questioning perspective, and to learn an attitude of critically examining information and claims that form the basis of scientific thinking.
In addition, the significance of physics as a liberal art that transcends the traditional boundaries between the sciences and the humanities is explored through course guidance and report assignments.
