Students will learn about social and policy debates on the current state and challenges of multiculturalism associated with globalization. They will acquire sociological analytical perspectives and knowledge through reading academic books and articles on multiculturalism and multicultural education.
This seminar introduces theoretical and practical discussions on children and education issues in multicultural societies. Students will learn how multiculturalism is progressing in today's increasingly globalized society. They will also learn important concepts such as multiculturalism, social integration, and cross-cultural understanding while reading related literature. Based on these, we will examine the current state of multiculturalization in Japan and overseas, multicultural coexistence, and policies and practices related to multicultural education from a sociological point of view.

グローバル化に伴う社会の多文化化の現状や課題に関する社会・政策的論議について学ぶ。多文化主義や多文化教育に関する学術書・論文の講読やレジュメの作成・報告、討議を通じて、社会学的な分析視点と知識を身につける。
Students will learn about social and policy debates on the current state and challenges of multiculturalism associated with globalization. They will acquire sociological analytical perspectives and knowledge through reading academic books and articles on multiculturalism and multicultural education.
グローバル化が進んでいる現代社会において、いかに多文化化が進んでいるのか、実態について学ぶ。その上で、多文化主義、共生、社会統合、異文化理解といった重要概念について、関連文献を輪読しながら、討議を行う。また、多文化社会における子供と教育の問題に関する理論的・実践的議論に触れる。それを踏まえて、日本国内外における多文化化の現状や多文化共生、多文化教育とかかわる政策や実践について、社会学的な視点から検討する。
