To summarize and critique the literature.
To conduct a research through resume writing, review of previous studies, presentation of arguments, and discussion.
To understand characteristics of the employment system in Japan through readings books about industrial relations.
While it is a common saying that the Japanese employment system has collapsed recently, it is not always well understood what the Japanese employment system is, how widespread it was, where it originated, and how it differs from employment in other countries. In this exercise, we will deepen our understanding of the Japanese employment system by reading the literatures by turns and consider the employment-related debates that have been going on in the world.

日本的雇用システムについて、近年でもその崩壊がよく言われるが、他方で、日本的雇用システムがいかなるもので、どれほど普及していたか、またその起源はどこにあり、他国とどのように異なるのか、ということは必ずしも理解されていない。そこでこの演習では、文献を輪読することで日本的雇用についての理解を深め、世間で言われている雇用に関する議論について考えていく。
