The purpose of this course is to develop student's basic skills in quantitative sociological research by reading literature on social stratification and inequality, and training in critical thinking and data analysis.
In this seminar, we will study various inequalities in society from the perspective of social class and the method of quantitative data analysis. In particular, each student will examine their own research topics, focusing on changes in inequality or people's social attitudes, and causes and consequences of life events, such as marriage, childbirth, getting a job, changing job, and so on.
In the spring semester, students will acquire a sociological perspective by reading designated books. We will also train students to improve their critical thinking skills. Quantitative sociology requires data analysis skills, so we will also provide practical training in analysis.

ゼミでは基本的に紙の資料（レジュメ）配布はしません。資料は、Canvas LMSやクラウドにアップロードし、各自それを閲覧するようにします。したがって、パソコンなど、インターネット接続可能で、資料を見られるようなデバイスを授業に必ず持参してください。
社会階層や不平等にかんする文献の講読と、批判的思考力およびデータ解析の訓練により、計量社会学の基礎的能力を身につける。
The purpose of this course is to develop student's basic skills in quantitative sociological research by reading literature on social stratification and inequality, and training in critical thinking and data analysis.
このゼミでは、社会にある様々な不平等を、階層という視点と、計量分析という方法によってとらえ、研究していく。特に、格差や人びとの意識が移り変わっていくことや、人生のなかで起こるイベント（結婚や出産、就職や転職など）の原因や帰結などへと注目して、それぞれ独自の研究課題を設定することになる。
専門演習２Ａでは、指定した書籍を講読することによって、社会学的な視点を獲得する。また、クリティカルシンキングの訓練をおこなって、批判的思考力を高める。計量社会学ではデータ解析の技能が必要なので、分析の実習もおこなっていく。
