The purpose of this course is to develop student's applied skills in quantitative sociological research by conducting a social survey, and training in critical thinking and data analysis.
In this seminar, we will study various inequalities in society from the perspective of social class and the method of quantitative data analysis. In particular, each student will examine their own research topics, focusing on changes in inequality or people's social attitudes, and causes and consequences of life events, such as marriage, childbirth, getting a job, changing job, and so on.
In the fall semester, students will develop their research skills in quantitative sociology by reading designated books. In addition, further analysis training will be conducted based on real large-scale survey datasets.

この授業では、実際に社会調査（定量的な要因配置サーヴェイ実験）をおこないます。そのため、自分の考えを表現したり、独自の質問項目を考案するなど、能動的に研究に取り組む能力・意欲が求められます。
ゼミでは基本的に紙の資料（レジュメ）配布はしません。資料は、Canvas LMSやクラウドにアップロードし、各自それを閲覧するようにします。したがって、パソコンなど、インターネット接続可能で、資料を見られるようなデバイスを授業に必ず持参してください。
この授業は、一般社団法人社会調査協会の社会調査士Ｇ科目として申請する予定です。
社会階層や不平等にかんする文献の講読と、定量的調査およびデータ解析の訓練により、計量社会学の基本的能力を身につける。
The purpose of this course is to develop student's applied skills in quantitative sociological research by conducting a social survey, and training in critical thinking and data analysis.
このゼミでは、社会にある様々な不平等を、階層という視点と、計量分析という方法によってとらえ、研究していく。特に、格差や人びとの意識が移り変わっていくことや、人生のなかで起こるイベント（結婚や出産、就職や転職など）の原因や帰結などへと注目して、それぞれ独自の研究課題を設定することになる。
専門演習２Ｂでは、指定した書籍を講読することによって、計量社会学の研究能力を培う。そのほかに、実際の大規模社会調査データセットに基づいて、さらなる分析の実習もおこなっていく。
