【Course Objectives】

The objective of this course is to enable students to look critically at medical phenomena and issues from a sociological perspective and to be able to express your own ideas.

【Course Contents】

When we hear the words "health" and "medicine," we may tend to think of biological or medical phenomena, but they can also be viewed as social phenomena. In today's society, what are the mechanisms underlying health, illness, and death? What kind of experiences are they? These questions will be the focus of this course.
The first half of this course will cover the basic concepts of medical sociology. The second half of this course will focus on the theme of cancer, a chronic disease with which we are all familiar, to consider the experience of illness from a variety of perspectives and clarify issues. We plan to invite guest speakers to lecture and interact with students.
