The objective of this course is to enable students to look critically at medical phenomena and issues from a sociological perspective and to be able to express your own ideas.
While "health" and "medicine" are often associated with biological or medical phenomena, they can also be understood as social phenomena.
How are health, illness, and death structured in contemporary society? Furthermore, what are these experiences like for the individuals involved? As science and technology advance and the population declines, how will medical care evolve? This course will proceed by exploring these questions.
We plan to invite guest speakers to lecture and interact with students. Additionally, opportunities for group discussions among students will be provided, so please participate actively.

医療に関する事象や問題を社会学的視点を持ちながら批判的に捉え、自分の考えを述べられるようになること
The objective of this course is to enable students to look critically at medical phenomena and issues from a sociological perspective and to be able to express your own ideas.
「健康」や「医療」と聞くと、生物学的・医学的な現象がイメージされやすいかもしれませんが、これらを社会的な現象としてとらえることも可能です。
今日の社会において、健康であること、病むこと、そして死ぬことは、どのような仕組みのもとに成り立っているのでしょうか。また、それらは当事者にとってどのような経験なのでしょうか。科学技術の発展や、人口減少が進む中で、これからの医療はどう変化していくのでしょうか。本授業では、こうした問いを持ちながら講義を進めていきます。
授業内ではゲストスピーカーをお招きし、受講生の皆さんと対話していただくことも計画しています。また、受講生同士のグループ・ディスカッションの機会も設けますので、積極的に参加してください。
