This course aims to focus on the human rights situation in international society and to consider what "equality and justice" means. Then, from this course, students will examine global human rights issues from an international perspective and think about peace. After enrolling in this course, our goal is for students to develop a perspective on these topics and to be able to see the world from both national and international perspectives.
In this course, we would study the concepts of equality and justice: what are human rights, what is a democracy, and what is reconciliation. Based on these concepts, we would discuss equality and justice using historical and current cases from around the world. Specific cases would be taken from the civil war in Cambodia, child soldiers, minority peoples/indigenous peoples, equality and justice from a gender perspective, and civil rights issues as well.

本科目では、国際社会における人権状況について「平等と公正」の視点から考えることを目的とし、国際的な視点から世界の人権について考える。本科目の履修後には、平等と公正について、幅広い視野をもって世界を捉えられる視点を養うことを目標とする。
This course aims to focus on the human rights situation in international society and to consider what "equality and justice" means. Then, from this course, students will examine global human rights issues from an international perspective and think about peace. After enrolling in this course, our goal is for students to develop a perspective on these topics and to be able to see the world from both national and international perspectives.
本科目の内容は、「平等と公正」をテーマに、「人権とは何か」「デモクラシーとは何か」の概念を学ぶ。それらの概念を基礎に、世界各国にみられる歴史的な事例や現代における事例を用いて、平等と公正について考察を深める。具体的事例では、カンボジアにおける内戦や、少年兵、ジェンダーに関連する事例、現代における貧困の問題、少数民族問題、差別と排除にまつわる公民権の視点から平等と公正を考える。
