The goal of this course is to understand how contemporary society is viewed as a post-feminist society, and to acquire methods and perspectives to critically examine how the representation of masculinity in popular culture has changed against this backdrop.
The lecture will follow the contents of the textbook, "When We Hear New Voices," and will discuss what kind of society our contemporary society is changing into (post-feminism, neoliberalism, and post-Fordism will be key words), how the norms of masculinity are changing within this change, and how, in response to these changes, representations of men are changing in popular culture works. We will draw on the knowledge of disciplines such as masculinity studies, feminism, disability studies, and literary criticism and cultural studies, and we will explain these disciplines as appropriate.

本講義の目標は、現代社会をポストフェミニズム社会と見る考え方を理解した上で、それを背景として主にポピュラーカルチャーにおける男性性の表象がいかなる変化をこうむってきたかを批評的に考察する方法と観点を獲得することである。

講義では教科書の『新しい声を聞くぼくたち』の内容に沿って、現代社会がどのような社会へと変化しているのか（ポストフェミニズム、新自由主義、ポストフォーディズムなどがキーワードとなる）、その変化の中で男性性の規範がいかに変化しているのか、そしてそれに対してポピュラーカルチャー作品の中で男性の表象がいかに変化しているのかを論じる。男性学、フェミニズム、障害学、文学批評とカルチュラル・スタディーズといった学問の知見を縦横に活用するので、それらの学問についても適宜解説していく。
