We will read "classics" that have been widely read in postwar Japanese society and have influenced the people of that era, and consider the times and society.
The lecturers will read and discuss books (classics) that are considered useful for college students to read as a "liberal arts" course with their respective instructors. Books that influenced society at the time and later generations will be selected from a wide range of genres, including sociology, environmental issues, philosophy, literature, and non-fiction. Each session invites a specialized lecturer to talk about his/her own experiences and how to read books, providing an opportunity not only to learn how to look at "society" but also to learn how to read and choose books.

If you want to read books, but don't know what to read or how to read them, this course is for you. In this lecture, professional writers (readers) will teach you their techniques. The order of lecturers (themes) may change. The content of this lecture will be published in book form (individual student statements will not be identified).
戦後日本社会で広く読まれ、その時代の人々に影響を与えてきた「古典」を読み、時代と社会を考える。
We will read "classics" that have been widely read in postwar Japanese society and have influenced the people of that era, and consider the times and society.
大学生が「教養」として読んでおくと、役に立つと考えられる本（古典）を、各講師とともに読み解いていく。当時の社会や後世に影響を与えるきっかけとなった書籍を、社会学や環境問題、哲学、文学、ノンフィクションといった幅広いジャンルから取り上げる。各回で専門の講師を招いて、自身の経験や書籍の読み方を話してもらうことで、「社会」の見方を学ぶだけでなく、本の読み方や選び方を知るきっかけとする。
The lecturers will read and discuss books (classics) that are considered useful for college students to read as a "liberal arts" course with their respective instructors.
